The European Union and German Customs Authority have begun rolling out a major transition to fully electronic customs declarations, marking one of the most significant digital upgrades in European trade processes.
Under the 2025 program, all import, export, and transit operations will shift to digital systems such as ATLAS 3.0 in Germany and the EU-wide New Computerised Transit System (NCTS Phase 5). These tools aim to streamline data exchange, reduce clearance times, and minimize manual paperwork.
For logistics and import firms — including GoJet Logistics — the reform means faster documentation, improved tracking accuracy, and closer integration between customs, transport, and food-safety systems. Businesses are advised to verify that their software and data meet new electronic-submission requirements before year-end.
The move aligns with the EU’s broader goal of creating a fully digital customs union by 2030, boosting transparency, efficiency, and environmental sustainability across supply chains.
